The Indo-Polish pair of Rohan Bopanna and Lukasz Kubot reached the men's doubles semi-finals of the Shanghai Masters 2015, as they defeated unseeded opponents, Feliciano Lopez and Max Miryni 6-4, 7-5 in the fourth quarter-final today.

Bopanna and Kubot, seeded eighth in the tournament, broke the serve of Spanish-Belarusian pair of Lopez and Miryni in the fourth game of the first set. They consolidated the break with some good serving and went on to win the first set 6-4.

In the seventh game of the second set, Bopanna and Kubot were handed over four break points, after what was the fifth double fault by their opponents. However, the duo failed to take advantage of the situation, with Lopez and Miryni saving all of them.

Miryni, who had partnered Bopanna back in 2008, soon had a chance to break serve in the 10th game of the second set. With the scores balanced at 4-5, the Spanish-Belarusian pair were handed a break point and with it, the opportunity to win the second set. They, however, failed to convert this chance, which proved to be critical in the end.

Bopanna-Kubot broke their opponent in the next game and then served out the match to win it 6-4, 7-5.

Bopanna and Kubot will now face the sixth seeded pair of Raven Klaasen and Marcelo Melo, the current world number three in doubles ranking, in the second semi-final tomorrow. The match starts at 12:00 PM IST.
