Rafael Nadal eyes return to competitive action before 2017
Rafael Nadal will make his comeback to competitive tennis at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship in Abu Dhabi in December. The Spaniard, who has won 14 Grand Slams, had previously said that he needed to take rest and start preparing for the 2017 season.
The former World No.1 took to Twitter to tell inform his fans that he was planning an early return.

This season has not been a good one for the 30-year-old as he has struggled with multiple injuries and other medical problems. Even though he won a gold medal at the Rio Games in the Men's doubles event, Nadal has not had a similar impact in the singles tournaments.
Though the nine-time Roland Garros champion had mentioned that he would start playing again in 2017, it appears that he has changed his mind.
"It is no secret that I arrived at the Olympic Games short of preparation and not fully recovered, but the goal was to compete and win a medal for Spain. This forced recovery has caused me pain since then and now I am forced to stop and start preparing the 2017 season," Nadal had said.
The tournament will start on the 29th of December 2016 in Abu Dhabi.
