Grigor Dimitrov beat Nick Kyrgios in straight sets of 6-3, 7-5 to clinch the Cincinnati Masters title on Sunday. The volatile Australian had his fair share of chances in the both the sets of the final but squandered all of them before eventually going down to his higher ranked Bulgarian opponent.

The Cincinnati Masters final was one to look forward to as it pitted two the most talented up and coming players on the circuit against each other. More importantly, both Dimitrov and Kyrgios hadn’t dropped a set heading into the final of the tournament.

Both Kyrgios and Dimitrov got off to a good start in the final as they held their serve in the first four games. But it was the Australian who had the first chance to go a break up in the opening set, but he could not capitalize as he sent a forehand wide to blow the chance. Dimitrov took full advantage of the mistake as Kyrgios netted a forehand to hand the Bulgarian a 4-2 lead. Though the Australian had a chance to break back in the very next game, a backhand error proved costly and it was all the World No.11 required to take the first set 6-3.

In the second set, both players were going neck and neck until Kyrgios capitulated with three double faults with the score at 5-5 to hand Dimitrov decisive break which he made good use of as he closed out the match 2 games later to seal his first ATP Masters title.
