Day six of the ongoing French Open saw the King of Clay Rafael Nadal and defending champion Novak Djokovic in action and the duo did not disappoint their legions of fans as they showcased some superb shot making. While Nadal hit an exquisite winner against Basilashvil, Djokovic survived a scare.

3. Nadal shows Basilashvili why he’s the King of Clay

After demolishing Basilashvili 6-0 6-1 in the first two sets, Nadal was on serve and leading 3-0 in the third, trailing 15-40. And though Basilashvili forced Nadal into a long rally, after a few exchanges from the baseline, Nadal stunned his opponent with a winner straight down the line. What makes Nadal’s shot special is the fact that he hit ball with such ease and that resulted in a comprehensive winner out of nowhere.

2. Schwartzman gives Djokovic a runaround

Though Djokovic did manage to get the better of Schwartzman, his victory did not come without initial struggle. Schwartzman won the first set 7-5 and was on serve in the second set, trailing 1-2. An extensive rally ensued with the score at 15-0 in the Argentine’s favor. The duo forced each other to explore almost every inch of the court. But the excessive running took it’s toll on Schwartzman as he ended up losing the point following an attempted volley that landed past the baseline.

1. Albert Ramos- Viñolas resilience triumphs over Lucas Pouille

Vinilos may not be the most established player on tour, however, he certainly is one of the most resilient players going around. And on Friday, the Spaniard’s resilience took him past Lucas Pouille. One point, in particular, stood out. In the fourth set with Vinilos leading 3-1, Pouille moved Viñolas all over the court as he dominated the rally for the most part. However, Viñolas was in inspired form on the day and just kept retrieving everything that was thrown at him. In the end, Viñolas somehow managed a brilliant passing shot down the line to win a marathon rally.
