Alexander Zverev started the final of the Halle Open on the offensive breaking the first game, but the 18-time Grand Slam champion clawed back into the match with six straight games to seal the set in his favour. The 35-year old carried the same momentum in the second set where he broke in the first game to take an early lead. On the other hand, Spanish veteran Feliciano Lopez claimed the Aegon Championship at the Queen's Club by defeating Marin Cilic 4-6, 7-6(2), 7-6(8) in a nail-biting encounter. Feliciano saved a match point in the tiebreaker of the second set to keep his hopes of a sixth title alive, while fourth-seed Cilic did the same in the tiebreaker of the third set but was eventually outlasted by the Spanish in the two hours and 32 minutes long contest.
Petra Kvitova defeated Australia's Ashleigh Barty 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 to win the Aegon Classic title, her first since returning from a knife attack injury in the French Open. Barty, a former cricket player, started the game with strong serves to seal the first set with ease. However, Kvitova was back to her explosive best in the second when she took a formidable 5-1 lead to win the set with ease. Both the players gave their best in the third and deciding set which looked evenly poised at 2-2 until Kvitova surged ahead and served the Australian out of the game to complete a match-winning performance.
