American tennis player Ryan Harrison destroyed five of his racquets on the court during his 4-6, 6-3, 5-7 loss to Damir Dzumhur in the first round of the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells. Harrison’s rage poured out towards the end of the third set as he lost from a winning position.

In the deciding set, Harrison was serving at 5-6, and Dzumhur managed to take it to deuce at 40-40. After a long rally from the back of the court, Harrison was forced to rush to the net by a drop shot from Dzumhur. However, the American missed a couple of easy opportunities to win the point – first with a backhand smash and then with a backhand volley – and he decided to take that frustration out on a racquet which was laying on his chair.

That mistake also handed over the match point to Dzumhur and a few seconds later, another unforced error from Harrison, who found the net while attempting a backhand down the line, gave Dzumhur the match, and a passage to the next round. Immediately after losing that final point, Harrison smashed the racquet in his hand. He destroyed three more before heading to the locker room.
