ATP Rankings | Prajnesh Gunneswaran rises to career-best 80
After starting 2019 with a rank of 243, Prajnesh Gunneswaran has now reached a career-best 80 in the latest ATP rankings. Gunneswaran is having a brilliant year so far with an entry into the third round at Indian Wells after making it into his first ever main draw of the Australian Open.
It has been a phenomenal year for India’s top-ranked male tennis player as he has now moved to his best ranking of 80 on the latest update of the ATP rankings which was released on Monday. Earlier this year, after making it into his first ever main draw of a Grand Slam, the Chennai lad broke into the top-100 for the first time in his career.
The 29-year-old also reached the main rounds of Masters 1000 tournaments in Indian Wells and Miami, which bolstered his rankings further in 2019. He had reached the third round of Indian Wells where he got the better of France’s Benoit Paire and world number 17 Nikoloz Basilashvili. The victory against Basilashvili is considered as the biggest win of his career so far.
On the other hand, Ramkumar Ramanathan has fallen out of the top 150 as he slipped 16 places below his previous ranking. Ramanathan is currently placed at the 157th position in the fresh ATP rankings.
