VIDEO | Frances Tiafoe exacts 'revenge' on Roger Federer with a head shot
Karma has its own way to make things right and tennis legend Roger Federer learnt it the hard way when he was against American international, Francis Tiafoe. The Swiss ace got hit on the head with a ferocious backhand from Tiafoe after the former had earlier smashed one at the American's chest.
Roger Federer and mixed doubles partner Belinda Bencic of Switzerland were involved in a historic encounter against American duo of Serena Williams and Francis Tiafoe. The Swiss duo ended up beating their American counterparts by a score of 4-2 4-3 (5-3) in the fast-paced duel, securing a 2-1 win in the round-robin tie.
The match had been described as the most anticipated contest involving a male and female player since the 'Battle of the Sexes' in 1973, when 39-time Grand Slam champion Billie Jean King beat former men's world number one Bobby Riggs in straight sets.
However, Federer came in the headlines for the wrong reasons. The Swiss international got a taste of his own medicine when Tiafoe hit a ferocious forehand that ended up hitting Federer’s head. Earlier, the former World No. 1 struck Tiafoe with a lightning strike that also had Williams concerned over her partner’s condition. What goes around, comes around, right
Defending champions Switzerland play Greece in their final round-robin match on Thursday while the USA face Great Britain's Cameron Norrie and Katie Boulter.
