Maharashtra Open | Rohan Bopanna and Divij Sharan’s pairing bag their maiden ATP title
India’s Rohan Bopanna and Divij Sharan defeated the British pair of Luke Bamridge and Jonny O’Mara in straight sets in the final match of the Maharashtra Open. Though the top seeds fought hard in the quarterfinal and semifinals, it was a relatively easy win for the duo in the final match.

Earlier the duo had pulled two back to back thrilling victories to reach the finals of the Maharashtra Open being held in Pune. The Indian pair had to face a stiff challenge to win the semifinal match 6-3, 3-6 and 15-13 against I Dodig and S. Bolelli. But in the final match, the British pair could not thwart a stiff challenge from the top seeds.
"This win surely is a big boost ahead of the Australian Open. Divij has variation and movement in his serve and he will get better. He definitely put pressure on the opponents when he is at the net," said 38-year-old Bopanna to PTI.
Bopanna was at his serving best during the match as he lost just four points in the service during the entire match. Sharan too did not falter too much in the match, though he would have to work on his serve a bit.
"The conditions were faster and playing during the day made it easy. Playing together at the Oil company's tournament helped and we have to nurture this partnership," the 32-year-old from Delhi said.
