World No.1 Novak Djokovic waltzed past Germany’s Alexander Zverev to set up a replay of the 2017 French Open quarterfinal against Dominic Thiem, who also had an easy win against Karen Khachanov. In women’s category, Amanda Anisimova beat Simona Halep to play Ashleigh Barty in the semi-final.

As competitive as the clash looked on paper, the match was equally blunt as Djokovic defeated Zverev in straight sets after a tinge of competition in the first set. After Zverev broke the Serbian in the first set, Djokovic immediately made a comeback by returning the favour before winning it 7-5. The next two sets were a walk in the park for Djoker as he won 6-2, 6-2 to reach the semis after bowing out in quarters for the last two years.

Thiem, on the other hand, had it way easier against the Russian, who had stunned Juan del Potro in the previous round. This time, however, Khachanov was hardly lethal as Thiem was allowed to run him down in straight sets 6-2, 6-4, 6-2. He will face Djokovic in the semis ahead of what looks like to be an epic finale on Sunday.

The biggest upset of the round, however, was reserved for the women’s category when 17-year-old Amanda Anisimova got the better of World No.3 Simona Halep in straight sets 6-2, 6-4. In another match, Berty downed Madison Keys6-3, 7-5 to reach the semi-final.
