India’s terrific run at the Bavarian International Tennis Championships, Germany came to an encouraging end in the final as Divij Sharan and his Brazilian partner Marcelo Demoliner lost in straight sets. In Busan Challenger, Sasi Kumar Mukund defeated Saketh Myneni in three sets in the round of 64.

The German championship was worth 250 ATP points and € 29,650 and the Indo-Brazilian pair could only get 150 points and €15,200. Playing against Frederik Neilsen and Tim Puetz on Sunday, Sharan and his partner went down 6-4, 6-2.

The match of the day was, however, the all Indian clash at the Busan Challenger where Myneni took on Mukund and it lived up to the expectations. The very first set saw both the players getting broken thrice before it was forced into a tie-breaker. However, Mukund held his nerve to win it 9-7.

Myneni was at his clinical best after an error-prone first set and he levelled the match by winning the second set 6-3 by breaking Mukund once in the fourth game. The third set was a more monotonous one with Mukund breaking Myneni right at the last game where Myneni saved three break points before eventually giving in.

In another Challenger held in Mexico, second seeds Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan and Purav Raja also lost their doubles semi-final clash against Australia third seeds, Matt Reid, and John-Patrick Smith as they went down 10-8 in the super tie-break after the match ended 6-1, 3-6.

Sumit Nagal was playing in the Challenger in Savannah, and he too followed suit by going down against second seed Paolo Lorenzi 6-4, 4-6, 6-2. Nagal won 29 ATP points and $2,510.
