Indian Tennis Round up | Rohan Bopanna knocked out in Madrid while Sasi Kumar Mukund loses in Busan
India had a poor day in the first round of the Madrid Open as Rohan Bopanna and his doubles partner Dominic Inglot lost in straight sets. On the other hand, another Indian Sasi Kumar Mukund also lost the match against Evgeny Donskoy in straight sets in an ATP Challenger tournament in Busan.
Partnering with Dominic Inglot in the men’s doubles category at the Madrid Open, Bopanna has been knocked out of the competitions. The Indo-England duo lost 7-6(4), 6-3 to Guido Pella and Joao Sousa to bow out of the Masters 1000 tournament in Spain’s capital city.
Russia’s Evgeny Donskoy managed to get the better of India’s Sasi Kumar Mukund at the ongoing ATP Chellenger in Busan, South Korea. The Indian was beaten 6-2, 6-1 by seventh seed.
In the doubles tie, Vishnu Vardhan brought smiles on the faces of Indian tennis fans as he partnered with Toshihide Matsui to defeated Seon Yong Han and Cheong-Eui Kim 6-2, 2-6, 10-4. Meanwhile, fourth seed pair of India’s N Sriram Balaji and Jonathan Erlich also managed to beat Jason Jung and Tsung-Hua Yang by straight sets 6-4, 6-4.
Ramkumar Ramanathan and Brayden Schnur, however lost in straight sets, 2-6, 4-6 to top seeds Cheng-Peng Hsieh and Christopher Rungkat in another men’s doubles tie in the same competition.
Arjun Khade was defeated by Sanjar Fayziev 5-7, 7-5, 6-4 in the singles category at the Shymkent in Kazakhstan but he is still alive at the event in the doubles category.
