Speaking on his decision to stay at champions Leicester City, striker Jamie Vardy said that it was an “easy decision” for him to reject the move from Arsenal. Vardy said it was also “the hardest decision” he has ever made but maintained that he wants to be part of the extended fairytale at the club.

Jamie Vardy was at the center of a fairytale story that Leicester City scripted last Premier League season as they kept going from strength to strength and eventually won the PL title. Although everyone expected them to falter at some point, they never did - Jamie Vardy went on to equal the Premier League record for goals in most consecutive matches equaling Ruud van Nistelrooy's record of 11 matches. The fairytale was only paralleled by Vardy's own as he shot to fame at the late age of 29 from being a virtual unknown.

During the run-up to the current season, Vardy was wooed by last year's second-placed team Arsenal. Vardy, however, put an early end to the speculations by extending his contract with Claudio Ranieri`s side for four more years.

"I am not going to beat around the bush - every time I thought about it, and every aspect of it I thought about, both my head and my heart were saying to stay at Leicester, which is why I made my decision to stay," Vardy told goal.com.

However, Vardy agreed that it was one of the hardest decisions he has had to make."In my professional life, it was the hardest decision I`ve ever had to make, but I haven`t been a professional for that long. It was hard, but it was actually an easy decision to make, "he added.

The 29-year-old also exuded confidence in Ranieri and the side as they look to disprove cynics that they are not a one-off phenomenon.

"Leicester have been on the rise for a while now and will keep doing that. Look at the deals they did in the transfer window: they obviously want to keep it going. And, if it does keep going, I want to be part of that," Vardy said.

Leicester City, who were two years back at the brink of relegation, have a shot at the Champions League as well this year, although they may find the going tough at the European level.

In their next EPL match on September 10, the champions will face Liverpool.
