Rio Olympic finalists PV Sindhu and Carolina Marin have expressed their excitement at competing against each other in the Premier Badminton League (PBL), set to kick-off in Hyderabad on Jan 1. Sindhu will turn out for Chennai Smashers and the Spanish Olympic champion for Hyderabad Hunters.

“We are really excited about PBL-2. Some of the best players in the world will be seen in action here in our country. I am sure it's going to be really exciting for not only the fans but also the players,” Sindhu told PTI news agency.

“We have one of the best teams in the League. We have a good mix of singles and doubles players that makes us a force to reckon with,” Sindhu said of her franchise.

Sindhu plans to invite Marin home for dinner. “I am sure she will enjoy her stint in India. I would like her to come home to relish home-made biryani," the Indian ace said.

Two-time world champion Marin praised Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu, and said the pair are tough opponents.

“Saina has vast experience and quality shots. And Sindhu plays an attacking game. But, again you have to be at your best to beat either of them for they are very difficult customers,” she said.

“Without doubt, Olympic gold is the best ever performance by me. After that, the injury had made things difficult and also forced me to skip a couple of events. I have to be careful to avoid the injury scares but I am confident of being at my best and the PBL is one of the best opportunities,” Marin said.
