The date of the commencement of the fifth edition of the Premier Badminton League has been announced and it's set to start early next year on January 20, 2020. Top Indian shuttlers like PV Sindhu, HS Prannoy, B Sai Praneeth, and many others are expected to participate in it again.

PV Sindhu has mentioned that the 2016 Rio Olympics final was one of the greatest moments for her career even though she lost and could manage only a silver medal there. She has also stated that the BWF World Tour Finals win will give a lot of confidence to her for the matches in 2019.

Carolina Marin has revealed that she had to chalk out new strategies before playing against the Indian duo of Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu. Marin, who is a part of Hyderabad Hunters in the PBL, was also effusive of the tournament as it gives an opportunity to play with different players of the world.
