Ruthvika, Reddy- Chopra rule at Russian Grand Prix badminton
India’s Ruthvika Shivani Gadde bagged the women’s singles crown while N Sikki Reddy and Pranaav Chopra clinched the mixed doubles title at the Russian Open Grand Prix badminton in Vladivostok on Sunday. It turned out to be a heartbreak for Siril Verma in the men’s final.
Fourth-seeded Gadde brushed aside local favourite Evgeniya Kosetskaya 21-10, 21-13 in the final in 26 minutes for her second title of the year after the South Asian Games where she shocked Olympic silver medallist PV Sindhu in the final.
After winning the trophy,Gadde tweeted:

Meanwhile, Reddy and Chopra powered past the Russian pair of Vladimir Ivanov and Valeria Sorokina 21-17, 21-19 in the title round.

Luck didn’t favour promising Verma, who went down 21-16, 19-21, 10-21 to Malaysia’s Zulfadli Zulkiffli after batting for over an hour.
