India to kickoff Asian School Badminton against Malaysia
Hosts India are set up to open their campaign against Malaysia in the Asian School Badminton Championship on Saturday that is being held at the Indoor Stadium of Divisional Sports Complex in Mankapur. With Nepal and Bangladesh withdrawing, the tournament will revolve around six nations.
Opening the Asian School Badminton Championship, India will be encountering Malaysia, in both boys and girls’ section at the Indoor Stadium of Divisional Sports Complex in Mankapur from today. The tournament will extend to six days, where the team championship will be played with each team playing three singles and two doubles match.
After the inauguration, matches would resume from 6 pm on all the four courts. In the boy's section, Group A will be formed by India, Malaysia
In the girls’ category, Group A has Thailand, Singapore, and China in it. India, led by Malvika Bansod is Group B, are kept along with Hong Kong and Malaysia. The India Women's badminton coach Vishal Garje is hopeful of claiming medals during the event.
“We are very much sure of winning medals in both the boys and girls’ section. At the SAI centre in Aurangabad our teams had a good training session and we are eager to go to the courts and start our campaign on a positive note,” coach Garje said to TOI.
