World Junior Badminton Championships | India register wins against Sri Lanka and Kenya
The Indian badminton contingent is yet to taste defeat in the ongoing World Junior Badminton Championships in Markham as they got off to back-to-back wins against Sri Lanka and Kenya. India beat Sri Lanka by a margin of 3-0 in the opener after going on to win against Kenya by a scoreline of 5-0.

In the women’s singles, Malvika Bansod came back strongly after losing the first game to level the match before she went on to win by a scoreline of 14-21, 21-11, 21-16 in 39 minutes to give India 2-0 lead. World junior number three and reigning Asian Junior champion Lakshya Sen comfortably won by a scoreline of 21-9, 21-8 against Lanka’s Dumindu Abeywickrama in just 17 minutes to wrap up the tie.
Later on, fifth-seeded India went up against Kenya in their second tie of the day. Purva Barve opened the proceedings and needed only 13 minutes to beat Krisha Ghia 21-3 21-2. It was followed by Priyanshu Rajawat seeing off Meer Solanki 21-7, 21-8 in a match that went on for 20 minutes. Sahithi Bandi and Thanushree Ramesh ensured the victory for India after they defeated Ghia and Shana Patel 21-6, 21-3.
Manjit Singh and Dingku Singh began their tournament with a comfortable 21-2, 21-6 win over Urjan and Ujval Shah. Ashwini Bhat and K Saipratheek wrapped off the tie as they beat Patel and Solanki 21-3, 21-5.
