Thailand Open champions Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy break into Top 10

Newly crowned Thailand Open winners - Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy - jumped seven places to find themselves at number nine in updated badminton rankings. Meanwhile, Indian shuttlers Kidambi Srikanth, Sameer Verma and B Sai Praneeth remained at the same position in the singles rankings.

The Indian men's doubles pair - Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy - created history by becoming the first Indian duo to win a Super 500 tournament on the big stage at the BWF Thailand Open on Sunday. The highly-rated Indian combo caused a major upset as they beat reigning World champions and second ranked doubles pair Li Jun Hui and Liu Yu Chen of China by a scoreline of 21-19 18-21 21-18 in the final in Bangkok. The other Indian men's doubles duo of Manu Attri and B Sumeeth Reddy held onto 25th spot in the rankings. 

In the men's singles, things remained the same for Indian shuttlers as Kidambi Srikanth (10th), Sameer Verma (13), B Sai Praneeth (19), H S Prannoy (31) and Sourav Verma (44) were all static at their respective positions.

Meanwhile, amongst the women, leading singles' players - P V Sindhu and Saina Nehwal - held on to their fifth and eighth spots respectively in the women's singles ranking update. In the women's doubles, Ashwini Ponnappa and N Sikki Reddy moved up a place to 23rd.
