Danish shuttler Mathias Boe, who won the men's doubles silver medal in London in 2012, is likely to take over as the doubles coach of the Indian team till the Asian Games 2022. The former world no.1 Boe had earlier trained Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty before the 2020 Olympics.

This development happens after Boe wasn't retained as the coach after the Olympics, even after when he wanted to continue. Rather the BAI tried to re-appoint Malaysian Tan Kim Her, who was in charge of the Indian doubles setup from 2015 to 2019. But for some reason, coach Tan could not return to the setup, opening the gates again for Boe.

Meanwhile, Boe has already started work with the Indian doubles players ahead of the Badminton Asia Championships 2022, which is due to start on April 26.

“Since Boe is here, we thought of using the opportunity to train with him for a week ahead of the Asian Championships,” Satwiksairaj Rankireddy told PTI. “The thing with him is he is very good at analyzing the game and telling us exactly how to work on the mistakes.”

On the other hand, the position of the men's singles coach is still open after Indonesia’s Agus Dwi Santoso left in November last year. PV Sindhu too will be without her personal coach Park Tae Sang, who is on a leave till May. In his absence, Vidhi Chaudhary will accompany Sindhu to the tournament.
