High-Performance Centre for Badminton to come up in Bhubaneswar
A top technologically functioning badminton high-performance facility will open shortly at the Kalinga stadium complex, under the technological and training supervision of Pullela Gopichand. The Dalmia Bharat Gopichand Odisha Badminton Academy in Bhubaneswar will be finished in September.
The Sports Department indicated on Monday that it will be functioning shortly after that. According to a statement, the Odisha government has allocated three acres of land on which the Dalmia Bharat Group is constructing facilities at a cost of Rs 55 crore, and former head national coach Gopichand will provide expertise.
Gopichand will be directly supervising the training centre, because of his significant role in the emergence of Indian badminton, the HPC will provide world-class training and teaching facilities. The 500-seat academy will contain eight badminton courts as well as sophisticated sports facilities. National and international badminton events will be held at the venue.
A gymnasium, housing and housing facilities for players, coaches, and support personnel, a sports science room, and a health club will all be available. The structure is suspended from a glass cylinder, giving it the appearance of a floating cork (of shuttlecock). At night, special lighting LEDs will be cast from the roof to create a shuttlecock impression.
The efficient circular form will assist wind flow outward from the façade, lowering the peak wind pressure. In 2018, Odisha announced a collaboration with Dalmia Bharat and the Pullela Gopichand Badminton Foundation to establish a world-class badminton academy in the state. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik lay the proper foundation in February 2019.
