Vishwanathan Anand will make a comeback into the Indian team after 12 years as they take part in the 43rd Chess Olympiad to be held in Georgia from September 23. Anand has stated that he is not worried about his form at the tournament and is rather happy to be a part of a good team.

Vishwanathan Anand has represented the country in five Olympiads between 1984 and 1992 before taking part in the 2004 and 2006 edition. Although the Indian currently ranks 10th in the world, he has not had the best of years as he ended the Grand Chess tour with only 15 points. The five time World Champions last won an event in Moscow at the Tal Memorial rapid tournament and his form has said to have eventually gone down but he is not worried about it.

"Generally, these days my form wobbles a lot more. I have noticed though that most players suffer from the same phenomenon. No one is able to maintain stability for long. So I am not particularly concerned about my form," he said.

Anand stated that he stopped playing at the Olympiads due to no specific reasons as such but after a point he just started feeling exhausted.

"There is no specific reason why I stopped playing the Olympiad. I didn't like Turin (venue of 2006 Olympiad) for many reasons and right afterward I was quite exhausted with so many other tournaments including my World Championship matches that I preferred to stay away. I cannot tell you why I have rejoined the team now. It just worked out and the federation too was very cooperative,” he said.

However, Anand has stated that he is really very happy to be a back with the team that comprises the likes of Pentala Harikrishna, Vidit Santosh Gujrathi, B Adhiban and K Sasikiran.

"If the team atmosphere is good you benefit from that. I am confident there will be a good ambience as we get along very well with one another. Even in the camps we had a very good time. The Olympiad is an individual event played by teams. I will do my best on my board but I will play better if I see the rest of the team members playing well and they will do well if they see me playing well," he quoted.
