Commonwealth Chess Championship | Abhijeet Gupta manages to beat Aravindh Chithambaram in Round 4
Abhijeet Gupta continued his unbeaten run at the Commonwealth Chess Championship as he defeated compatriot Aravindh Chithambaram in the fourth round of the competition. Among the Indian women, Tania Sachdev drew her game with Swapnil Dhopade while Divya Deshmukh registered a win.
Abhijeet Gupta is now leading the chart after the first four rounds of the Commonwealth Championship in New Delhi at the moment. The Indian chess star got the better of third seed and India’s National Champion Aravindh Chithambaram in the fourth round on Tuesday. The game lasted for 60 moves as Gupta emerged the winner in the end.
Debashis Das also won on his table against M. S. Thej Kumar in the fourth round in 50 moves. In another fourth-round clash, Laxman managed to beat of R. Vaishali while Krishna got the better of defending champion P. Karthikeyan. S. L. Narayanan won against L. R. Srihari after an early defeat at the event.
Defending champion Tania Sachdev drew with Swapnil Dhopade among the women. On another table, top seed Divya Deshmukh thrashed Kiran Manisha Mohanty.
