Mohit Ahlawat’s stock has been on the rise since he had scored a triple century in a local T20 match on Tuesday and now IPL franchise Delhi Daredevils have invited him for a trial. Delhi’s coach Sunil Valson is currently monitoring his progress as he looks to land a lucrative IPL deal.

Mohit Ahlawat became an internet sensation after scoring 300 not out while playing against Maavi XI against Friend’s XI in the Friends Premier League at the Lalita Park in New Delhi's Laxmi Nagar area on Tuesday. It seems like his new found fame has landed him a golden opportunity to rise from obscurity and head into the limelight at one of the biggest sporting events in India – the IPL.

“He hasn’t had anything easy in life. He is a farmer’s son and has had to struggle hard to follow his dream of playing cricket. I am very happy that the Daredevils took note of his knock and called him for trial,” Sanjay Bhardwaj, Mohit’s coach, told News18.

Sanjay went on to confirm that he has received a call from Delhi Daredevils’ coach Sunil Valson. He said, “Mohit got a call from Valson and was asked to go for the trial. I am keeping my fingers crossed. If he keeps calm, he can definitely impress them. Even though he might come across as an attacker from his latest record, he has a sound technique. On top of that, he is also a wicket-keeper.

“Yes, Mohit has been called for trials. We keep tapping young talent and scouting future stars. Walson will be there to keep an eye on the whole process,” he added.

The youngster has already set his sight on his future ambition, though. “The ultimate goal is to play for India as every other player who starts playing the game and I hope I live upto that potential,” said Mohit.
