Sourav Ganguly, Jagmohan Dalmiya and two others will be honoured with stands at the Eden Gardens named after them at an inauguration function to be held ahead of the third ODI between India and England today. Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) will also felicitate former India skipper MS Dhoni.

"Four (stands) will be unveiled and they will named after Jagmohan Dalmiya, Biwanath Dutt, Pankaj Roy and me,” CAB president Ganguly told reporters in Kolkata.

“Four other stands named after JC Mukherjee, AN Ghosh and two war heroes will be inaugurated before the next international match. The army is yet to finalise the names of the war heroes but it is expected soon,” , Cricbuzz reported Ganguly as saying.

Meanwhile, Dhoni will be honoured for his contribution to Indian cricket. Dhoni stepped down as limited-overs captain earlier this month, and scored a stunning century in the second ODI in Cuttack that set up India’s win to seal the series 2-0 with a game to spare.

Dhoni is the game’s longest serving captain, closing at a record 331 games across three formats, and India’s most successful, having won all three ICC global silverware – World Twenty20, 50-over World Cup and Champions Trophy – and also led India to the top of the Test rankings in 2009.

Dhoni’s family is expected to be present at the stadium today.
