A special T20 match will be played between Rest of the World XI and West Indies at Lord's on May 31 and the funds collected from it would go towards the restoration of the two cricket grounds Dominica and Angulia in West-Indies, after they were damaged by hurricanes in September 2017.

This initiative was taken after hurricanes Irma and Maria did severe damage to the grounds in the East Caribbean. All the funds from the game would go towards the restoration of the cricket grounds in Dominica(Windsor Park Stadium) and Anguilla (James Ronald Webster Park), which were badly hit by the quick succession of Hurricanes in September 2017.

Hurricane Relief T20 challenge cup will be played in the iconic Lord’s stadium in England. The England and Wales cricket board(ECB) has taken the responsibility for it with the help of Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) and Cricket West-Indies (CWI). As the IPL will be over on May 27, it will be interesting to see whether Indian players remain available to be picked by Rest Of World squad.

For the time being, the ICC Rest of the World XI which has been announced, named England white-ball captain, Eoin Morgan to lead the team, with Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik and Thisara Perera the first names announced for the squad. The rest of the side will be announced in due course as reported by Lord’s official website. The match will be broadcasted live.

The reason behind organising the match at Lord’s could well be the wonderful relationship between ECB and WICB. West Indies cricket board president Dave Cameron had earlier said, quoted Economic Times, "Hurricanes Irma and Maria have devastated parts of the Eastern Caribbean and we have been considering how CWI can best show support for our region in the most impactful way.”

"I would like personally to thank MCC for agreeing to host the match at Lord's, and ECB, especially their President Giles Clarke, for their kind and generous support of this initiative. I am sure the match will be highly entertaining and competitive, as well as a great platform for us to raise much-needed funds," he added.
