Sudip Chatterjee and Baba Indrajith stitched together an unbeaten partnership of 81 runs for the third wicket to take India Green to 116/2 on Day 2 of the first game in Duleep Trophy. Earlier, the India Red side was bowled out for 337 in their first innings at NPR College ground in Dindigul.

Brief Scores: India Green 116/2 (Sudip Chatterjee 57*, Baba Indrajith 32; Rajneesh Gurbani 2-43) trail India Red 337 (Ashutosh Singh 80, Mihir Hirwani 61; Ankit Rajpoot 4-57) by 221 runs

Overnight India Red batsman Ashutosh Singh continued with his innings on Day 2 and got good support from lower-order batsmen. After Rajneesh Gurbani (22) became the fourth victim of Ankit Rajpoot earlier in the day, Mihir Hirwani showed his batting prowess as the Madhya Pradesh batsman went on to score 61 off 111 balls. The duo added 44 runs for the eighth wicket before Ashutosh got out for 80 by Ashoke Dinda.

Hirwani, on the other hand, was picked up by K Vignesh 13 overs later and the India Red innings came to an end with the scorecard reading 337 in 132.5 overs. Rajpoot picked up four wickets while Vignesh scalped three for the Greens.

Coming out to bat, the Greens lost two quick wickets as both the openers Priyank Panchal and Prashant Chopra were sent back into the hut by Vidarbha pacer Gurbani. Panchal got out in the third over for eight as he handed over a catch to Shahbaz Nadeem. Prashant Chopra was soon knocked over by Gurbani for 19 just after the dinner break and at one point of time, they were reeling at 35/2.

Sudip and Indrajith then hung around well at the crease and stayed there till the end of the day. At stumps on the second day, India Green are trailing by 221 runs with Sudip on 57 and Indrajith on 32 at the crease.
