Ranji Trophy | Elite-A: Gujarat defeat Baroda by nine wickets; Vidarbha play out draw with Maharashtra

Gujarat defeated Baroda by nine wickets as they easily chased down a target of 168 runs in 48.2 overs on the last Day of the match. All the remaining matches of the group ended as draws as Saurashtra drew with Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra went on to play out a draw against Vidarbha.

Baroda vs Gujarat

Brief Scores : Baroda 290/10 & 179/10 (Pinal Shah 71; Rush Kalaria 6/35) lost to Gujarat 302 & 168/1 (Priyank Panchal 112*) by 9 wickets.

Starting with an overnight score of 161/7, Baroda added just 18 more runs before all their batsmen were back in the hut. Pinal Shah was the best batsman for Baroda scoring 71 runs while Rush Kalaria was the wrecker-in-chief for Gujarat taking six wickets and spending a miserly 35 runs. Gujarat got a target of 168 runs which they chased without breaking a sweat. The chase was lead by Gujarat opener Priyank Panchal who scored an unbeaten 112 runs and was supported by Bhargav Merai who remained unbeaten at 33. The Baroda bowlers failed to pick up even a single wicket as the lone wicket that fell for Gujarat was via a run out. Rush Kalaria was given the man of the match award for his stupendous match winning bowling in which he picked a total of seven wickets.

Saurashtra vs Chhattisgarh

Brief Scores : Chhattisgarh 355/10 drew with Saurashtra  475/10 & 179/5 (58.2 Overs)

The match between Saurashtra and Chattisgarh ended in a draw after the Chattisgarh batsmen lingered around and scored 40 more runs before getting out for a total of 355 runs. Sumit Ruikar, who played well for his 67 runs, the highest scorer for Chhattisgarh and was the last wicket to fall in the innings. Saurashtra started their innings on a good note as their openers added 81 runs for the opening wicket. But before the days match got over they lost five wicket adding 98 runs to their total. Sheldon Jackson remained not out for Saurashtra scoring a half century. Four of the five wickets of the Saurashtra innings that fell were picked by Sahil Gupta who spent 69 runs in total. Jaydev Unadkat was the man of the match as he had picked a seven wicket haul in this match.

Railways vs Mumbai

Brief Scores : Railways 307/10 drew with Mumbai 411/10 & 321/5 (102.4 Overs)

Mumbai played well today as they lost just three wickets the whole day and added 262 runs to their total before a draw was called. Siddhesh Lad made a handsome 79 runs before getting out. After him, Aditya Tare and Shivam Dubey formed an unbeaten partnership scoring 100* and 69 runs respectively. For Railways, Harsh Tyagi picked three wickets spending 86 runs. Anureet Singh and Manish Rao bagged wicket a piece. Tushar Deshpande was adjudged the man of the match for his six wickets.

Maharashtra vs Vidarbha

Brief Scores : Maharashtra 343/10 drew with Vidarbha 120, 501/8 (175.0 overs)

Vidarbha played out of their skins after being forced to follow on following a collapse in their first innings. They made 501 runs and did not get bowled out which was a tremendous effort considering they were following on. Akshay Wadkar remained not out scoring a century. Apart from him, Aditya Sarwate scored 60 runs. Satyajeet Bachhav was the lead wickettaker for Maharashtra as he picked three wickets spending 109 runs. Samad Fallah and Anupam Sanklecha picked two wickets each. Faiz Fazal was the man of the match for his century and a four-wicket hall.
