There have been many instances where a batsman has scored more than three runs by not only sending the ball out of the boundary ropes but also by running hard between the stumps. One such incident occurred in the third ODI between Pakistan and New Zealand where Faheem Ashraf ran five.

Batting first against New Zealand, Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, and Haris Sohail batted well as they moved towards a good total on the board. Azam was the top-scorer with 92 off 100 deliveries while opener Zaman got out for 65 earlier in the innings. In the middle-overs Sohail proved his batting credentials and amassed 60 off 59 balls and Pakistan was 264/5 when Azam got out eight-run short of his century.

Faheem Ashraf was the next man at the crease for Pakistan and in the 49th over, he flicked one into the leg side of Trent Boult’s bowling. The ball went near the square leg boundary from where the fielder hurled a throw to the wicketkeeper. Asif Ali and Ashraf decided to go for the third run but the ball was straight at Tom Latham. The Kiwi wicketkeeper collected the ball cleanly and threw it at the non-striker’s end. With the throw missing the stumps, and Boult not covering, the ball went towards long off allowing both the batsmen to pick up another run of the overthrows.

However, we were not done yet. As the ball came in from the deep, Latham tried to collect it on the bounce and missed it completely. As the ball moved across the third man, the batsmen collected yet another single to take an incredible five runs of one ball. Pakistan coach, Micky Arthur could not control his emotions and was seen sitting in the dugout with a huge smile on his face.
