Alzarri Joseph, who made a splendid debut for Mumbai Indians, is expected to miss the remaining matches of the Indian Premier League after suffering an injury in Saturday’s match. It is learnt that the West Indian pacer has a tear in his right arm which also happens to be his bowling arm.

Alzarri Joseph had injured his right shoulder, while fielding in the match against Rajasthan Royals on April 13. ESPNcricinfo has now reported that the pacer has a tear in the right arm which was dislocated while diving on the field. The West Indian is now expected to miss the remainder of the matches in the 12th edition of the Indian Premier League.

Joseph had announced his arrival in the league on April 6 against Sunrisers Hyderabad, with figures of 6/12, the best ever in the league. The former U-19 World Cup winner was given a place in the XI as Sri Lankan Lasith Malinga was unavailable and he took up the opportunity with both his hands. However, he followed it up with two below-par performances with the ball in the next two matches but hit the winning runs against Kings XI Punjab on April 10. The pacer was smashed for 28 runs by Jos Butler in his third over in the match against RR but could not return to bowl the final over as he was off the field owing to his injury.

The 22-year-old pacer was drafted in the MI squad as a replacement for Adam Milne, who had also injured himself before the start of the tournament itself. The three-time champions will yet again be in search for a like for like replacement.

MI will play Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Wankhede stadium today and it is very likely that Malinga will play in the place of Joseph.
