Mohinder Amarnath believes that Rishabh Pant needs to learn to develop patience in himslef in order to make justice to his talent and score regularly for the Indian team. With the likes of Sanju Samson performing consistently in domestic cricket, Pant is now under pressure to deliver the goods.

The Indian cricket team is dominating world cricket in all three formats today but one of the weak links that former Indian all-rounder Mohinder Amarnath believes is the wicket-keeper slot in limited-overs cricket. Rishabh Pant has been throwing away his wicket more often than not and many in the cricketing fraternity believe that he is not doing justice to the incredible amount of talent that he possesses. Amarnath believes that while Pant's talent is not questionable, he needs to learn to bat patiently in order to be successful at the highest level.

"Rishabh Pant needs to be calm and composed to harness his considerable talent. He shouldn’t feel pressured to show his audacious stroke-play every time he bats. He should learn to be patient at times and also show the full face of the bat when batting," Amarnath wrote in his column for TOI.

Pant was backed in the recently concluded T20I series against West Indies but failed to impress again as he scored only 51 runs in three innings and with the likes of Samson waiting in the wings, Pant needs to buckle up and come good to cement his place in the white-ball cricket.

"His wicketkeeping also needs to improve. I have never seen a 'keeper collecting a ball in front of the stumps in my time. He needs to hone his technique and wait for the ball rather than grab at it," Amarnath asserted.

"There is no questioning Pant’s talent but he needs to make these crucial changes to his game. Many youngsters like Sanju Samson are knocking at the door with very strong performances in domestic cricket," he concluded.
