VIDEO | Comilla Victorians run out Chris Gayle and Mohammad Mithun on the SAME BALL
The Bangladesh Premier League has grown in popularity over the last couple of years and continues to offer some entertaining action for cricket lovers across the globe. This time the entertainment came from Chris Gayle and Mohammad Mithun were both run-out of the same delivery on Monday in Dhaka.
The first qualifier between Rangpur Raiders and Comilla Victorians ended with a victory for the latter as they triumphed by a massive margin of eight wickets on Monday at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. A fighting effort from Windies’ legend, Chris Gayle, at the top of the batting order for the Raiders was not enough to beat the Comilla Victorians who ultimately pulled off a comfortable win thanks to another brilliant West Indian - Evin Lewis.
However, Gayle was lucky early on in the innings as he was involved in a run-out at the start of the first innings. Raiders’ batsman Mohammad Mithun and Gayle were at the crease as they faced Victorians’ bowler - Sanjit Saha.
Mithun nudged a Saha delivery softly towards the square leg region and proceeded with a very late decision to go for the single. As the fielder threw the ball towards the wicket-keeper Anamul Haque. It could be argued that the throw should have been at Gayle's end as he is the slower runner but Mithun falls short of the crease as Anamul whips off the bails. The keeper then had another hit at the other end which caught Gayle also a few inches short of the non-strikers' crease. But since rules state that only one person can get out off a single ball, the towering West Indian remained on the crease before being dismissed for 46.
