How can Pakistan play a Test match without having a Sarfraz Ahmed special as the moment of the day? After his hilarious DRS appeal, which strangely went in his favour, Sarfraz dropped an easy catch after Faf du Plessis’ edge was obstructed by his nose and that left his teammates frustrated.
He is chirpy, has a safe pair of hands, and is more than handy as a batsman. He may not be perfectly suited to be the ideal captain in any Test team or may mess up a simple run-out chance or may not understand the DRS rule, but Sarfraz Ahmed doesn’t drop catches and that is his identity. But every now and then, Sarfraz pulls off something out of the box which makes him a piece of a joke among many and the Cape Town crowd saw one in the ongoing Test.
Mohammad Abbas bowled a half-bouncer down the leg and du Plessis failed to clip the ball towards fine-leg. As a result, it just took the edge off the blade and for a moment, it seemed like it would be easily gobbled up by Sarfraz. However, the Pakistan skipper made a complete mess of it as he failed to control his momentum and moved forward. The ball then resulted in going with the flow and hit Sarfraz’s nose before falling down on the surface.
