Ranji Trophy 2022 | Yash Dhull becomes third batsman in tournament's history to hit centuries in both innings on debut
Yash Dhull on Sunday became the third batsman in the history of the Ranji Trophy tournament to score a century in both innings of the debut match. Before Yash Dhull, the only two other players who achieved this feat are Nari Contractor which happened in the 1952-53 season and Virag Awate in 2012-13.
Yash Dhull became the third batsman in the history of the Ranji Trophy to score centuries in both innings of the debut match. The right-handed batsman scored brilliant tons for Delhi in their first match of the season against Tamil Nadu at the ACA Stadium in Guwahati. The India under-19 world cup winning captain achieved this feat on his first-class debut for his state team of Delhi.
In the first innings, Yash Dhull had scored a fluent century which comprised of 18 boundaries in his knock of 113 off just 150 balls. Dhull's innings helped Delhi post a huge total of 452 against Tamil Nadu. In the second innings as well, Yash Dhull smashed the ball to all parts of the ground to bring up his second hundred of the game.
Interestingly, Yash Dhull again made 113 however this time he remained unbeaten. During his knock, Dhull struck 14 boundaries and a six. He is now the third player in the history of the tournament to score a century in both innings.
Former cricketer Nari Contractor was the first one to achieve this feat back in the Ranji Trophy season of 1952-53. The other batsman was Virag Awate who did in the 2012-13 season.
Earlier, Yash Dhull made another record after he scored a century on his Ranji Trophy debut and joined an elite list of players like Sachin Tendulkar who have also achieved the same.
