For a bowler, a well-executed full toss can be a powerful weapon, but it requires precise control. San Francisco's Juanoy Drysdale attempted this against Steve Smith but bowled a bizarre full toss as the ball slipped from Drysdale's hand resulting in a surprising and poorly controlled delivery.

However, the steady partnership between Andries Gous and Steve Smith bolstered Washington's batting lineup.

The most memorable moment came on the last ball of the 13th over when Juanoy Drysdale, aiming for a yorker, delivered an unexpectedly awkward ball. As he approached the crease and released the ball, the white rock slipped from his hand soaring above Smith’s head. San Francisco's Josh Inglis caught the unexpected delivery clumsily, allowing Smith to run a single and pass the strike to Glenn Maxwell. The square leg umpire immediately called a no-ball, as the delivery was above waist height obliging Drysdale to bowl again. His woes were compounded when Maxwell capitalized on the free hit, smashing the next ball for a colossal six.
