Injury blow for Shoriful, Jaker Ali to debut in Bangladesh’s squad for India tour

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has revealed their 16-member squad for the upcoming tour of India, where they will play two Test matches. Pacer Shoriful Islam has been left out due to a groin injury, making room for all-rounder Jaker Ali, who might make his Test debut in Chennai.

‌After a triumphant whitewash against Pakistan, Najmul Hossain Shanto is set to lead Bangladesh's 16-member squad in their upcoming series against India. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced the squad via their official Twitter account, highlighting the Shanto-led team, which is riding high on confidence after their historic tour in Pakistan.

Left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam remains sidelined as he continues to recover from a groin injury and will miss the series. In his place, wicket-keeper batsman Jaker Ali Anik has been called up. The 26-year-old right-hander, the only uncapped player in the squad, boasts a first-class average of 41.47 since his debut in 2016. Jaker recently impressed with a career-best 172 during the A-Team series in Pakistan.

India's home season will kick off with the first Test against Bangladesh in Chennai on September 19, followed by the second Test match in Kanpur starting September 27.
