Amid the ongoing IPL retention discussions, Rishabh Pant took a stand against misinformation by addressing a fake news spreader online. He firmly clarified that there is no truth to the rumours of him joining Royal Challengers Bengaluru, urging others to refrain from publishing false information.

‌Indian wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant has criticized a user on Twitter for disseminating fake news. The user claimed that the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) management rejected Pant's bid to become the franchise's captain. In response, Pant urged users to verify their sources before sharing information online.

The 26-year-old also condemned individuals for spreading misinformation on social media, urging users to double-check their unreliable sources before sharing.

The Delhi Capitals wrote a long note on his Twitter handle and said, “ Fake news. Why do you guys spread so much fake news on social media. Be sensible guys so bad. Don’t create an untrustworthy environment for no reason. It’s not the first time and won’t be last but I had to put this out. Please always re-check with your so called sources. Everyday it’s becoming worst. Rest it’s up to you guys. It’s wasn’t just for you it’s for a lot for people who is spreading misinformation. Tc”

Currently, Pant is representing the Indian squad in the ongoing Test series against Bangladesh. He gained significant attention for scoring a century in Chennai, which propelled him to the sixth position in the ICC Men’s Test rankings. In the IPL earlier this year, he captained Delhi Capitals, amassing 446 runs in 13 matches, including three fifties.

Although the Capitals did not make it to the playoffs, Pant's impressive performances secured him a place in India's T20 World Cup 2024 squad.
