There’s nothing quite like the brilliance of the new ball working its magic for the bowling side, leading to a stunning catch by a fielder. Such was the scene in the second Test between India and Bangladesh where Yashasvi Jaiswal produced an exceptional catch at gully to dismiss Zakir Hasan.

‌The crowd in Kanpur eagerly awaited the match's start, as a wet outfield delayed the proceedings. After an hour's wait, play finally commenced at 10:30 PM, with India choosing to field first on the damp pitch. Bangladeshi openers Zakir Hasan and Shadman Islam approached their innings cautiously, taking the score to 26/0 in eight overs. The pitch offered considerable bounce and pace, and it was during this time that Rohit Sharma handed the ball to Akash Deep, who made an immediate impact in his first over.

On the third ball of the ninth over, Akash Deep came around the wicket, delivering a good-length ball just outside off stump. The red cherry angled in and then shaped away from the southpaw, momentarily squaring Zakir up and resulting in an outside edge that flew low to the right of the gully. Positioned perfectly, Yashasvi Jaiswal anticipated the catch beautifully, diving fully and securing the ball with both hands.

The on-field umpires conferred to ensure it was a clear catch, and after reviewing various angles, third umpire Rod Tucker declared it out. This spectacular moment sent the Twitterverse into a frenzy, with fans sharing their excitement and admiration for Jaiswal’s remarkable catch.
