West Indies beat Pakistan by a whopping 202 runs in the third and final ODI in Trinidad on Wednesday. Captain Shai Hope scored an unbeaten century to power the hosts to a competitive total, while Jayden Seales recorded career-best figures to bundle out Pakistan for a meagre total.

‌West Indies ended their 34-year wait for an ODI series win over Pakistan when they beat the visitors by a huge 202-run margin in the third and final ODI in Trinidad on Wednesday. Captain Shai Hope led from the front with an unbeaten century to guide the hosts to a formidable total of 294/6 before Jayden Seales stole the show with his best performance in ODI cricket. The pacer recorded impressive figures of 6/18 in 7.2 overs to bundle out Pakistan for a paltry 92 runs as the home team pocketed the series 2-1.

After being put into bat first at the Brian Lara Stadium, the West Indies managed to get close to the 300-run mark despite enduring a slow start, which saw them at a precarious position of 184/6 in the 42nd over. But Hope and all-rounder Justin Greaves plundered 110 runs for the unbroken seventh wicket partnership in just 50 balls to make amends for an indifferent showing from the top order. Hope finished as the top scorer in the match with an unbeaten 120 off 94 balls, a knock which included 10 fours and five sixes. Meanwhile, Greaves smashed four fours and two sixes during his entertaining cameo of 43 off 24 balls from the other end. Leg spinner Abrar Ahmed was Pakistan’s best bowler with figures of 2/34, including a maiden in nine overs, with Naseem Shah also picking up two wickets.

In reply, Pakistan had a horrendous start with Seales ripping through their top order to leave them reeling at 8/3. Saim Ayub, Abdullah Shafique, and captain Mohammad Rizwan left without disturbing the scorers, while Babar Azam’s dismissal after a struggling innings of nine off 23 balls made it 23/4. The visitors never recovered from that and were bowled out under 100 inside 30 overs. Left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie picked up two wickets to complement Seales’ superlative effort, while the all-rounder duo of Salman Agha and Mohammad Nawaz scored 30 and 23, respectively.
