In a cricket game, the art of fielding is often subdued by the batter and bowlers’ endeavors. Deepti Sharma’s timid reaction to a fumbled catch from Chinelle Henry on the former’s opening over echoed the importance of a fielder in complimenting a team’s success at the Kotambi Stadium.

Delhi Capitals came back strong after conceding a plethora of runs inside a 66-run powerplay with Annabel Sutherland leading the charge. However, Shweta Sehrawat’s mature knock and Henry’s cameo propelled the UP side to 167 runs in 20 overs. In response, the Capitals got off to a formidable start with Shafali Verma and Meg Lanning firing. As the pair orchestrated the opposition bowlers inside the powerplay, Deepti’s decision to bring herself into the attack paid dividends before experiencing a heart-in-mouth moment.

On the first ball of the seventh over, Deepti bowled a fuller one near the stumps that Verma shimmied down the ground and tried to slog over deep mid-wicket. However, the connection wasn’t the best and Henry at the edge of the circle dropped a sitter. Four balls later, Verma reacted in a carbon copy style to a full-pitched delivery outside the stumps towards deep mid-wicket. Henry there fumbled before grasping onto the white rock. For a split second Deepti’s had a heart-in-the-mouth moment as she had her hand on the head, sparking Twitterverse frenzy.
