PAK-W vs BAN-W | Twitter reacts as Bangladesh hold back no laughter after Nashra Sandhu's hilarious hit-wicket
Pressure can make world-beaters behave like rookies, and it barely gets higher than during a World Cup opener on home continent. Pakistan's Nashra Sandhu emerged as Exhibit A against Bangladesh in Colombo on Thursday, as she clipped her own bails off much to her rivals' unbridled joy.

Pakistan crumbled to 129 all-out in their Women's World Cup 2025 opener against Bangladesh at the R Premadasa Stadium with no batter maging to score more than Rameen Shamim's 23 runs. Despite two first-over wickets from Marufa Akter and a couple middle-over breakthroughs from Nahida Akter, it was Shorna Akter who emerged as the pick of the bowlers for the Tigresses with dream figures of 3.3-3-5-3. The wily wrist-spinner opened her tally by having Natalia Parvaiz nick behind and capped off the innings with Sadia Iqbal getting caught at mid-on, but it was her second scalp that raised eyebrows with wonder and laughter.
Shorna found herself up against tailender Nashra Sandhu in the 35th over and began with a full delivery at the stumps that was promptly driven back to her. The leggie responded by dropping her length slightly while maintaining the off-stump line, tempting her rival into a late cut. However, Sandhu had not expected the Kookaburra to turn sharply and was left waiting with her bat raised as the ball ripped through to the keeper without a shot offered, evoking sighs from the Bangla camp. But as Sandhu breathed a sigh of relief, she failed to realize her proximity to the stumps and gently brought her bat down onto the bails, clipping them off to be rendered hit-wicket.
Keeper Nigar Sultana could not help her instincts as he pointed at the broken stumps with an open palm while bubbling with laughter, still a milder reaction to Shorna's whose entire body shaking with laughter. Twitterati reacted no differently.

Pakistan cricket will now have to face all these injustices from the ICC just because their shirts have “Pakistan” written on them.

Check Nashra Sandhu's wicket, she doesn't even know shes inside the crease and playing cut shots close to body.. poor technique from poor team. BTW they are 115-9 right now in a 50 over game#WomensWorldCup #WomensWorldCup2025
Big wicket!
Big blow for Pakistan! Captain Fatima Sana departs on 22, leaving the side struggling at 100/7 in the 30th over. pic.twitter.com/nGfZhUauuC
