WATCH, BBL | Prestwidge gets Hurricanes career off to dizzy start as Thunder lose two in first two balls
Franchise cricket can be tough on young players, with changing loyalties and pressure to perform straightaway under high stakes making it hard to settle. Try saying that to Will Prestwidge though after the young pacer got off to a dream start in purple for Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League.

Sydney Thunder's disastrous Big Bash League campaign hit new lows at the Showground Stadium on Saturday as they registered their fifth loss in six games to remain bottom of the pile. David Warner scored a thunderous ton, 14 years on from his previous three-figure effort in the tournament, but it was not enough to prevent Hobart Hurricanes from chasing down the 200-plus total with 13 balls to spare after some brilliant strokemaking from the likes of Tim Ward and Mitchell Owen. Despite the fightback from Thunder with the bat, ominous signs were present right from the beginning when Will Prestwidge took the new ball in hand on debut for the Hurricanes, after making a swtich from the Brisbane Heat this season.
Prestwidge steamed in from over the wicket to Matthew Gilkes and banged the ball short but erred in line to send the white rock hurtling way down the leg side. However, the southpaw could not contain his temptation to take a wild swing at the awry delivery but in his attempt to do so managed only a faint tickle that was safely pocketed by Matthew Wade behind the stumps, handing a dream start to the young Queensland pacer. The supremely talented Sam Konstas walked in next and this time Prestwidge went full and straight with just a hint of inswing. Yet, it was enough to breach the gap between bat and pad of the driving Konstas as it took the inside edge and smashed into the stumps, thus leaving Thunder reeling at 0/2 and Prestwidge ecstatic.
Prestwidge ended up bowling two overs in the game and finished with figures of 2/19.
What a start!
