BCCI Reveals Fresh Details on Potential IPL Schedule Expansion
The BCCI has been planning to have more matches in a single IPL season. But it seems that those plans have come to a halt, as the international schedule remains an issue. Along with that, the IPL schedule may be shifted to prevent players from playing in adverse heat conditions.

Over the last few seasons, the BCCI has been planning to have an increase in the total number of IPL matches. The games were thought to be increased in such a way that every team plays 9 home games and 9 away games. Fans had been waiting to know when the season actually arrived when each team played 18 games.
But that won't be happening anytime soon. Some latest reports are coming from the BCCI regarding the expansion of the Indian Premier League. It was reported that the board is not looking forward to expanding the number of games in the IPL, as it would also hamper the international schedule. Along with that, it should be noted that IPL is also a part of the ICC Future tours programme.
If the IPL would have an expanded schedule, it would also mean that the international games would be less. And another problem faced by the players has been the adverse heat conditions towards the end of the tournament. For this, it is being reported that the board may shift the tournament to start from 10 March to 15 May.
Our Take
These moves by the BCCI are yet to be confirmed, but it comes as a decision which has arrived after a thoughtful process. For the Indian team, it is equally important to play more international games and allow the new talent to gain experience. Also, the heat conditions need to be countered by the BCCI, as it aims to shift the IPL schedule.
