Carles Cuadrat was extremely content with his side’s performance in the recent 2-1 victory over high-flying FC Goa at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Thursday. Goals from Rahul Bheke and Brandon Fernandes ensured a win for the visitors in what turned out to be a fiery affair between two top teams.

FC Goa entered Thursday night’s encounter with the clinical Bengaluru FC having secured 16 points from eight games played so far. Meanwhile, Sunil Chhetri & Co. are yet to taste defeat this season as they made their way to another fin win against table-toppers FC Goa on Thursday night at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda. Goals from Rahul Bheke and Brandon Fernandes guaranteed a win for the visitors as they levelled Goa’s point tally with two games in hand.

And away team manager, Carles Cuadrat, showered praise on his side for last night’s performance as he admitted that winning in Goa was not an easy task.

“I am very happy because we know how difficult it is to win at Goa. We had a plan for the game and it was working well and then there were some circumstances that changed things. Two red cards changed everything. In the end, it was a question of the one who scores the second goal will be the one to win. We were clinical in that counter attack with Udanta Singh and Sunil Chhetri and we got the goal, so I am very happy,” he stated at a post-match press conference.

Last night’s game turned out to be a fiery affair, as two players - Dimas Delgado and Mohamed Ali, were both shown red cards. The Spanish coach was left shocked with the referee’s decision to give Delgado his marching orders but claimed that it was due to the heat of the situation.

“I made a gesture because I was shocked about the reason of the red card. But I think that the referees have a very difficult job and we have to help them. But sometimes they take the decisions because of the circumstances. So maybe in another moment of the game and without a red card for the other team, maybe he is only showing a yellow card in that situation,“ Cuadrat added.

Meanwhile, home team coach, Sergio Lobera, was left disappointed with the final result and felt that his side deserved a draw on the night.

“I think a draw would have been a fair result. But you know (what happens) when you commit mistakes in a game so equally balanced. Again, we conceded a goal from a corner yet again. And again, after having done all the hard yards from coming back and equalizing and having done within five minutes to concede a goal as such. A team like this will always cause damage,” Lobera remarked.
