Arsenal have placed a second bid for Celtic's Kieran Tierney failing again, as the Bhoys have reportedly rejected a £25 million bid for their star as they are unhappy with the various clauses that the London side has put in the bid. The Gunners have less than a month to bring in reinforcements

The transfer window hasn’t been very kind to Arsenal so far, especially with rivals getting their transfer business off and running. While they have managed to sign Gabriel Martinelli from Ituano FC, the 18-year-old Brazilian will go straight into the youth system. Barring that, no deal has materialised yet with Arsenal in one way or the other.

While a deal for Ligue 1's William Saliba was close to completion before Tottenham hijacked the bid, Crystal Palace's Wilfried Zaha's deal is still hanging despite the player keen on moving to the club for the latter's budgetary issues as they wouldn't be willing to shell out £80 million. This leaves Tierney as the potential and only choice.

Their persisting interest in the Scottish left-back has finally manifested into proper bids before being eventually rejected. Arsenal’s first bid of £15 million was immediately knocked back by Celtic, while the second one, which was much closer to Celtic’s valuation of £25 million according to the BBC, has caused a few issues.

The BBC has further added that the bid of £25 million, which consists largely of instalments and various clauses for the 22-year-old, is the main reason Celtic rejected it. With Nacho Monreal flying past his prime and declining rapidly, which has allowed Sead Kolasinac to become the first team star.

While the Bosnian has done well offensively, he lacks a defensive brain which has caused more than a few problems. The draw against Manchester United in early December 2018 last season is just one in a litany of defensive errors that the 26-year-old has made. Things need to change and if Arsenal ever wants to find a way back into the top four, Tierney needs to be a part of their team. Despite being just 22-year-old, the Scottish international can make a difference, which is why it’s high time Arsenal step up and spend their meagre budget.

The Mirror has previously reported that Arsenal only have around £40 million to spend, which does make Unai Emery's job that much harder. The only good news is that the BBC has reported that Celtic are being very patient with Arsenal and talks will continue. But the North Londoners need to act fast as Napoli are very interested in bringing the 22-year-old to the Stadio San Paolo.
