Real Madrid coach Alvaro Arbeloa stressed the importance of consistency before facing Valencia. Despite being one point behind Barcelona, Madrid have struggled with uneven performances. Kylian Mbappe, with 37 goals in 30 games, echoed these concerns. Injuries to Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior may force tactical changes.
For the first time since taking charge, Alvaro Arbeloa has openly stressed that consistency, not brilliance, will define Real Madrid’s success this season. Speaking ahead of their La Liga clash against Valencia, the coach admitted that he cannot rely on “magic” to change results and instead demands commitment, discipline, and mental strength from his players. After a narrow 2-1 win over Rayo Vallecano, Madrid remain one point behind leaders Barcelona, but recent performances have raised concerns.
Kylian Mbappe echoed his coach’s views following a Champions League defeat to Benfica, where Madrid were clearly outplayed. He highlighted that champions cannot afford fluctuating standards. Under Arbeloa, the team has shown both extremes, including a dominant 6-1 win over Monaco and a shock Copa del Rey loss to Albacete. While Mbappe has been outstanding with 37 goals in 30 games across competitions, others like Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior have struggled for consistency.
Both Bellingham and Vinicius will miss the Valencia match due to injury and suspension, giving Arbeloa a chance to reshape his lineup. With Barcelona set to play Mallorca, Madrid face growing pressure. Arbeloa believes that only a strong and disciplined performance will help his side remain in the title race.
