Apurvi Chandela on Rio exit : My mind had totally gone blank

After her poor performance in the qualifying round of the women's 10m air rifle, Apurvi Chandela has revealed that her mind had gone blank during the event on Saturday. The 23-year-old finished 34th with a score of 411.7 (104.2, 102.7, 103.3, 101.4) and failed to qualify for the finals.

"I don't know what happened, my mind has totally gone blank.

"Of course, when I came in this morning, I expected to win. Who doesn't," Apurvi Chandela told IANS before she left to spectate the finals, alongside her physio Nikhil Ajit Latey.

Apurvi Chandela and Ayonika Paul failed to hit the high 10s throughout the qualification round and finished outside the top-30 shooters. Apurvi Chandela finished 34th with a score of 411.7 (104.2, 102.7, 103.3, 101.4), while Ayonika Paul ended up at 47th with a score of 403 (102, 104.5, 102.5, 94).

China’s Du Li created a new Olympic record in the same event to finish on top of the standings with a score of 402.7 (104.5, 106, 104.8, 105.4).
