Rio Olympics-bound Indian shooter Chain Singh, who was hospitalised in Switzerland after being diagnosed with pulmonary embolism and pneumonia, is set to be discharged from hospital today. The 27-year-old will soon resume training for the Olympics, which will begin on August 5.

The shooter, who will be representing India in 50m rifle prone and 50m rifle three positions events at Rio, was hospitalized on Friday after he developed the condition along with trouble in breathing. It was considered as a big blow to the Indian shooting contingent, but National Rifle Association of India secretary Rajiv Bhatia said that there was nothing to worry about.

"He was not keeping well as he had pneumonia, but he is ok now, and will be discharged today. He will also resume his training," Bhatia said, reported PTI.

Chain Singh has been practising in Switzerland along with fellow shooters Gagan Narang and Apurvi Chandela for the quadrennial event. He will fly out to Rio on August 1. The shooter had won the bronze medal at the 2014 Asian Games in the men’s 50 rifle three positions event. He had also bagged six gold medals in the South Asian Games back in February.
