Ankur Mittal wins gold at Asian Shotgun Championship
Ankur Mittal has continued his splendid run of form this year as he secured a gold medal in the individual event in men’s double trap at the 7th Asian Shotgun Championship in Astana, Kazakhstan on Saturday. India have also won the team gold in the double trap event in the Championship.
Ankur Mittal put up a fantastic performance to grab gold in the Asian Shotgun Championship. He Shot 71 in the six-man final to finish at the top of the podium. Other Indian shooters failed to secure any individual medal as Sangram Dahiya finished fourth, while Mohammad Asab got the fifth position.
UAE's Khaled Alkaabi (70) won the silver in men's double trap event, while Saif Alshamsy (53) finished with the bronze. World Cup gold medallist Mittal, shot 137 in the qualification and was behind topper Dahiya (140) as well as Asab (138).
Mittal also helped India grab another medal. With scores of Dahiya (43) and Asab (34) added to Mittal's final total, India managed to bag the top prize in the team event too.
Earlier this year, Mittal had bagged a gold medal at the International Shooting Sports Federation World Cup in Acapulco, Mexico. Before this victory, he had won a silver in season's inaugural World Cup in New Delhi as well.
