Indian shooter Manisha Keer has claimed a silver medal in the Junior women's trap event at the ISSF World Championship, which is currently being held at Changwon, South Korea. Indian Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore has also appreciated Manisha's exceptional performance in the event.

Manisha managed to equal the junior world record in the finals of the trap event, even as she missed the chance of securing a gold. Erica Sessa from Italy took away the gold after an intense shoot-off. At the end of the final, both Sessa and Manisha were equal at 41 and the shoot-off was conducted in order to place a winner. Daria Semionova of Russia finished third to claim a bronze with a total score of 31.

There were two other medal achievers from India as well in the junior events. India's Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore also acknowledged Manisha’s event, expressing his pride through a tweet.

“Our young Shooting champions are making the country proud at ISSF Shooting World Championship in Changwon,” he tweeted.

Winning a silver on the same day, Anjum Moudgil and Apurvi Chandela became the senior shooters to have secured quota places for the Olympics 2020. They also secured the fourth position in the women's 10m air rifle event.

The International Shooting Sport Federation's (ISSF) organised premier tournament is important, considering it is the first event, which has the Olympic quota for the Tokyo Olympics.
